Difference between lightning arresters and lightning rods

Lightning rods protect buildings and people from lightning, while lightning arresters protect electrical products from lightning.

Lightning rods protect buildings from lightning, and are installed on rooftops and house roofs to allow lightning that strikes them to escape to the ground. Lightning arresters are attached to poles, distribution boards, telephone lines, antennas, etc, to protect electrical products from lightning.
